Pat Morita was originally turned down for the role of Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid, because producers felt audiences wouldn’t be able to separate him from his comedic character Arnold on Happy Days.
Before casting Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, the role was turned down by Charlie Sheen.
While Ralph Macchio might have looked liked a scrawny baby-faced teenager, he was in fact 22 years old (he was born in 1961) when he filmed The Karate Kid.
