During the filming of The Goonies, Jeff Cohen (Chunk) came down with a case of the chicken pox; he was so scared he was going to be replaced that he secretly showed up to work sick, and his chicken pox are visible during the iconic “Truffle Shuffle” scene.
The pirate ship that is seen in The Goonies was real. The film’s director, Richard Donner, did not allow the cast to see it in advance in order to be able to get genuine reactions from them during filming.
